ISLAMABAD -- Wildlife conservation officials in Pakistan's southern Sindh Province have rescued a rare dolphin which swam into an irrigation water course from the river Indus, its natural habitat. The ****Dawn**** newspaper reported Saturday that the two-meter-long mammal weighing 72 kilograms was taken back to the designated area in the river, Pakistan's largest. An expanse between the barrages of Sukkur and Guddu has been declared by the provincial wildlife department a "dolphin reserve," which is home to about 500 animals, ****Dawn**** said. According to the report, between 10 to 20 dolphins stray from the reserve each year. (DPA)
